Admission Criteria

Admission will be based on JEE (Advanced) Rank. The Candidates must satisfy at least one of the following two criteria with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the year of first appearance in the Class XII (or equivalent examination):

  • Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.
  • Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination. The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, A language and Any subject other than the above four.

JEE (Advanced) qualified candidates who meet the above eligibility criteria must apply through the IIPE Admission Portal. Candidates allotted a seat through the online process are required to report to IIPE for physical registration.

Petroleum Engineering: Opportunities Ahead

Petroleum engineering continues to be a dynamic and evolving field. While the global shift toward cleaner energy is accelerating, oil and gas still play a vital role—particularly in developing countries. Petroleum engineers remain in high demand for traditional roles such as Drilling, Reservoir, and Production Engineers, as well as in oilfield services with leading companies like Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, ONGC, OIL, and Reliance etc. Industry Trends
