What Petroleum Engineers Do

Petroleum engineering continues to be a dynamic and evolving field. While the global shift toward cleaner energy is accelerating, oil and gas still play a vital role—particularly in developing countries.

Petroleum engineers remain in high demand for traditional roles such as Drilling, Reservoir, and Production Engineers, as well as in oilfield services with leading companies like Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, ONGC, OIL, and Reliance etc.

Besides these, some of the emerging and diversifying opportunities include:

✓
Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS)
✓
Hydrogen Production & Storage
✓
Energy Transition Roles
✓
Geothermal Energy
✓
Natural Hydrogen
